Conn McCartan to join Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools as New Executive Director
The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS) proudly announces Conn McCartan as its new executive director, effective Sept. 24.
McCartan was raised in Eden Prairie and graduated from Eden Prairie High School (EPHS). He also served as principal of EPHS for fourteen years, having just retired last spring. During his tenure, McCartan led the school through a time of increased academic achievement (AP performance, National Merit Scholars, and ACT performance), college readiness (highest percentage of graduates enrolling and persisting in college of any Lake Conference School) and co-curricular success (more participation and state/national acclaim than any time in school history).
McCartan has a demonstrated track record of connecting the Eden Prairie community, sharing the story of its schools, and leading efforts to support those schools. He served as lead spokesperson for the successful 2014 Eden Prairie Schools’ referendum and for numerous other community events including those sponsored by FEPS, the Community Foundation and the Eden Prairie Noon Rotary.
“I am thrilled to join an organization that is so committed to supporting the school system that educated me and that I have had the pleasure to serve for the past fourteen years. I look forward to working with people who have so much passion for the Eden Prairie school community,” said McCartan.
McCartan has been married to his wife Pam for 30 years. The couple has two children, Allison (28) and Ryan (25), both of whom are professional actors.
Suzanne Kutina, FEPS Board President, stated: “Conn has many amazing qualities, all of which we value. He embodies inspirational leadership, educational expertise, strategic thinking, integrity, sincere care for all students and an outstanding reputation throughout our community. We are very grateful that Conn has joined our Foundation team, and we are excited to work with him on some exciting new initiatives.’
McCartan succeeds Sarah Cheesman, who served as FEPS Executive Director for three years.
FEPS, founded in 1998, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports and enhances the legacy of excellence in Eden Prairie public schools.
